A List of Arabic Womens' Names
By David Appleton (Da'ud ibn Auda)
This is a list of names used by Arabic women. About half of them come
from the Fihrist of al-Nadim, a 10th-century source;
these names are generally acceptable for most periods and
Arabic-speaking cultures. If you're interested in a specific name,
contact us for information on that name.
"Arabic" is not the same as "Middle Eastern" or "Muslim." Many Middle
Eastern names are Persian (Iranian) or Turkish; it's important to know
what language your name is from.
