The Academy of Saint Gabriel

The Academy of Saint Gabriel

The Academy has been in existence since the spring of 1996. Since then, we have written over 2100 reports. In the spring of 1999, our backlog of requests topped 100, and we were burning out; so we went on vacation, cleared up the backlog, relaxed, and tried to figure out how to serve you better and faster. We came up with a lot of ideas, and we thought we'd solved the problem; but when we re-opened for business in September, we were quickly snowed under. In the first month, we received 80 questions. We've had to admit a basic fact: There are a whole lot more of you than there are of us.

We've usually been able to research and answer all the questions we receive, but when your interest outruns our resources, we've decided that we will have to limit the number of questions we accept. We're not happy with that solution; we'd like to help all of you who come to us. That's why we're here. But we can't do it. At least not without a lot more help.

Maybe that's where you come in. We need your help. You don't need to be an expert on names or heraldry: If you want to help, then we do have something for you to do. We need researchers, proofreaders, writers, and computer gurus. You can work as much or as little as you want, as long as you're willing to follow through on what you volunteer to do. If you want to help the Academy help the Known World, we welcome you!

To join the Academy or to find out how you can help, drop us a line.
