Here is the information we found on the name "Gustav."
"Gustav" is a common name in Sweden from the 13th century onward. We found some examples of it in Germany from the 16th and early 17th centuries. (1) At least some of the people we found had Swedish relatives, but we can't say whether "Gustav" was limited to people with Swedish connections.
